What Is an Outline Review?
Analysing your outline allows me to assess the big picture and structure of your story, without reading the whole manuscript.
This is a quick and affordable way to get some actionable feedback on your concept, plot and character arcs, as well as potential solutions for any structural issues you are dealing with.
Some authors find this particularly useful during the planning or self-editing stages, and some find that an outline review helps them get unstuck while they are writing, whether they're struggling with a specific plot hole or general structural chaos.
What's included:
- Comments throughout your outline document, with specific advice on everything from character development to continuity and plot progression.
- A scene, chapter or plot point breakdown, detailing my feedback on each part of your story.
- A written summary of my thoughts and suggestions for developing the story further.
Pricing
My average per word rate for an outline review is £0.02, but I price each project individually, as the amount of work depends on the story's complexity and the author's needs/preferences. This is why starting with sample feedback or a consultation is so important, as it helps me give you the most accurate quote for your outline review.
For example: A review of a 20,000 word outline could cost anywhere between £300 - £850.
(I am always happy to discuss payment plans, as I want to keep editing accessible.)
Ready to get started?
First we'll discuss your story and your goals, then we can arrange your sample feedback (comments and suggestions on up to 1,000 words, which could either be the start of your outline, a top level summary of your concerns or a synopsis of the whole story.) This should give you a feel for my editing style to make sure we're a good fit.
If you don't feel sample feedback would be helpful at this stage, I'm happy to swap this out for a free consultation instead, so we can spend half an hour chatting about your story and what you are looking to get out of the Outline Review. This could be either a voice or video call, or we can chat via instant messaging if you prefer.
